a few things on my mind right now

Hi friends, happy Monday! Things are a little crazy around here today. We found out the floorboard under our house was rotted and the entire bathroom has to be redone. Our landlord told us we were at risk for falling through at any moment. Yikes! We have to be out of our house for three weeks, which is slightly ironic because we were out of town a lot of April and, right before we got the news, I told Chris I was so excited to be home for most of May. Life is funny (:

Anyway, we're posting up with our dear friend, Megan, for the next few nights. Fortunately she has a guest room! On Thursday, we are headed to Raleigh to host a Write Night, then we're going to a wedding in Greensboro for the weekend.

Another life update is that before we went to Kenya, one of the reasons we picked it as a destination was because there was no Zika there. While we were in country, though, the CDC declared it a Zika territory. Because I got so sick, we both had to get tested when we got back. It was no easy feat getting the test - our doctor had to petition the CDC for it, then Chris' test broke en route to the CDC, so he had to get it done again. Last week we found out something broke at the CDC in April, which meant they couldn't run the tests for the entire month. My doctor's office called Friday and told us we should plan to wait for our results for "months and months." All this to be said, we're both really hoping to get cleared of Zika soon!

I have also been super hooked on the Enneagram personality test lately. Anyone out there a fan? I am a 2 and, once I learned more about my number, I felt so understood! I have been loving the Enneagram podcast The Road Back to You. Each episode, they interview someone of a certain number. Sometimes it's a little slow, but, for the most part, I'm pretty into it.

I am also weirdly in between four books right now, which is totally not my style. I'm reading Traveling MerciesWild and FreeLove Lives Here annnnd rereading Cold Tangerines. I never read this many books at once, but I think it's sort of symbolic for how life feels on this day: a little scattered, but full of a lot of good stuff.

That's all I've got today. I hope you all had a great Cinco de Mayo!
