the graduate

This weekend I made an impromptu trip to Indiana to surprise Duke for his graduation.

We had so much fun bopping around Bloomington, relaxing at home with a tasty dinner and celebrating his wonderful accomplishments at IU. He was also kind enough to walk 5 miles with me, in addition to our daily runs. Not much of a walker, I thought it was pretty sweet, considering it was his big weekend.
I am so excited for him as he begins the next chapter of his life. It's been two years (yesterday) since I graduated and it's certainly a time of great change. I look forward to seeing how he continues to grow and excel in grad school.

Take me to the Turf Club

This week has been a little zooey and Friday completely snuck up on me – to the point that I didn’t realize this fabulous triple holiday weekend was upon us.

Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby and Mother’s Day! Three reasons to celebrate, PLUS Duke’s graduation, all packed into one tiny weekend.

Since I already missed my chance to blog about sombreros and crazy colorful dresses, I best be sure to have my Derby gear ready.

Throw on a seersucker dress and oversized hat (just pull out the one you used for the Royal Wedding), grab a mint julep, and count your lucky stars. My money is on Archarcharch.

See you in the winner’s circle, folks.

PS: If you need something for your fella to wear this weekend, indulge here.

you see? life really does imitate art

I'm not much of an artist. In fact, I recently took a personality test that ranked "appreciation for art" the last of my 24 strengths assessed.

However, for as long as I can remember, my favorite way to appreciate art (and almost everything) is via a magazine. I'll never forget the way Jackie and JFK looked on the cover of Life magazine (every time), and the way Elle made Jessica Simpson look like Marilyn Monroe.

That being said, I'm digging Papirmasse, a new company that will send you a magazine cover, which has been transformed into a print, each month for a year.

If didn't live in a 1,000 square-foot apartment, I'd definitely be indulging.
