summertime in the city

I may have jinxed my beach weekend with over-eager posting last week. It ended up raining while we were there and I believe I actually returned from the trip with a lower Vitamin D count than I left with.

However, we still had a great time celebrating Reese and Maria's wedding, and at the end of the weekend, they accomplished what they set out to do: start an amazing marriage together. And, rain or shine, we still had a fabulous time.

I'm hoping to post pictures soon - but since I didn't take any, and will have to wait for friends to upload them, I can't really provide a timeline. :)

However, I did walk away from the weekend with an insatiable desire to eat summery food, which I blame on the beach. Well, and the rain. It was a double threat.

Check out my post on Freshly Rooted tomorrow for the super summery salad I made Sunday, and in the meantime, try wrap your mind around how amazing and fresh this popsicle would taste. Anyone up for a little summertime snack?

blogger ate my homework

Well, I am sad to say all the lovely posts I had lined up this week have disappeared into the abyss that is blogger. And even more sadly, they took a lot of the comments from previous posts with them.

I'm not sure if they'll return, but in the meantime, I'm leaving blogger behind for the weekend and heading to St. Simons Island. I'm beyond excited to go to the beach and to have a relaxing weekend in the sun and sand.

Do you have anything on tap for the weekend? I hope it's splendid!

on growing up

“There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming." - Shauna Niequist
I found this quote on Greta's blog, and when I Googled it to find the author, I was so excited to find that it is by Shauna Niequist, who wrote the book I am starting to read next week. Meant to be?

Also, it speaks so much truth to me about people in their 20s. We're all in such different places - from being married to engaged to single, with jobs, in school, looking for jobs, living at home, buying a home...

We're all in this in between space that requires an element of settling down, and an element of going with the flow - and in the end, we're all learning more about who we are as adults.

PS: If you're interested in reading the entire exerpt, it's pretty great.

busy bee

I've been heads down this week trying to get everything done. As we quickly approach the summer, I find my work days busy, my evenings planned and my weekends consumed with activities.

Although I love the busyness, I can't help but panic that May is nearly halfway over. Slow down sweet spring! I have an evening commitment every night this week, and something every weekend now through July 10, which makes me wonder when, exactly, I will be able to stop and soak it all in.

Regardless, I laughed when I saw this ad. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say they're too busy to work out. It's something you have to make time for - you have to proactively schedule it into your day, and this ad provides extra inspiration.

I hope you're able to find some time for a workout today!
