rainy day tuesdays

Am I the only one that gets completely giddy when it rains? At 73 degrees yesterday, the thunderstorm filled my bones with excitement. I left work hyper and bounced around all the way until bed; the balminess tricked my body into spring fever.

And although we've yet to put up our Christmas trees or ring in the new year, I fell asleep reminded why I ventured south last year. A little bit of spring in November never hurts.

Oh, and here's to a sunny Thursday, coming at you tomorrow. Stay tuned!

mad carving skills

"Man, this is bad! And I've had my share of bad reviews. I still remember my first good one, though. 'Everything else in this production of Our Town was simply terrible. Joey Tribbiani was abysmal.'" Joey, Friends

During the course of the last year, there have been multiple occasions on which I probably should have gone to the hospital due to serious knife injuries to my hands. One of which resulted in me having my left hand wrapped and immobilized for an entire week.

My knife skills are abysmal.

To the point that every time I'm home and cutting things in front of my parents, they're guaranteed to say under their breaths, simultaneously, "didn't I teach you to use a knife?" as I cut toward myself and miss my skin by a hair.

Yet somehow, last night at family dinner with my friends, I ended up helping carve the turkey. We had a Thanksgiving feast, complete with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and apple crisp.

Regardless of the questionable carving, it was a lovely night.

And although it goes against my normal practice, we put on Christmas music during dinner. While I may have spent the first half of the meal trying to think of any Thanksgiving song known to man in order to postpone Jingle Bell Rock just a little longer, the combination of good friends + gobble feasting + Christmas music got me primed for the holiday season. I cannot wait to go home and see my family next week. Di! Do you think my they'll want me to carve the turkey there, too?

Here's to one full week of work before the holiday season begins! Happy Monday!

oh my sisters!

I've long since confessed my love of sisters. From watching them interact to learning the way they're similar, it's a creepy obsession of mine. Not just my own. Although they're at the very tip top of the list. But all sisters entice me. Hence the creepiness.

That being said, the newest issue of Vogue is my kryptonite. Chocked full of my favorite sister duos - from Kate&Pippa to MK&A, I'm counting down the days until it hits the stands on Nov. 15. In fact, it's the only reason I'm wishing the weekend away. After a whirlwind trip to Nashville last weekend, I'm very much looking forward to being in Atlanta.

All signs points to a wonderful weekend ahead. I hope yours is happy too, and maybe you get to spend time with you sisters :)
Oh! Also. Happy 11/11/11. Love it!

Oh, double also. Do you think it's weird they didn't ask me and my sisters to be in this issue? I think so too!

bright&happy thursday

Am I in trouble? This morning I thought: I'm kind of ready for spring clothes...

I haven't even worn tights yet this season! I've barely even busted out my favorite cardis! I've still got piles of layers to work through...!

Although, I think it's more just a matter of wanting to wear bright colors - whether it be a kini or a coat need not matter.

So today, clad in a coral belt and neon headband, I greet you with a little extra spring in my step. Here's to a neon November!

Oh man. How much do these pencils make you want to color!?
